Operation Get Fit No Excuses: Checking In

Updated: Aug 31, 2019

It’s been a while since I’ve reported on my continuous #health journey, #Operation #GetFit #NoExcuses. We’ve actually been on vacation for the most part of August and have been enjoying going around Italy exploring. Yesterday was the first official day back so now it’s time to get back in our standard routine.

While on vacation, it’s customary to indulge in eating almost anything you want, while trying not to blow your diet completely out of the water. I admit we ate so many good and delicious things, including many more sweets than we should have. But surprisingly, none of us gained weight and Padrone actually managed to lose 2 kilos (4.4 pounds).

While I didn’t exercise everyday, I was still active enough that I met and exceeded my August Apple Watch Fitness challenge. I have to say I’m very proud of myself for that. My activity levels were increased on many days because we spent a lot of time outdoors walking around and visiting different places in Tuscany. I know that normal daily activity isn’t the same as concentrated exercise, but I gained no weight, despite eating foods outside my traditional diet, so I’m calling it a win all around!

Since I haven’t been following my daily routine of stretching as much as I should, I can feel the difference because my muscles are stiff. I know that it will improve once I’m getting back on my typical workout routine.

Now, on to more exciting things! I have had a lot of interest and inquiries about how I lost my weight naturally and how I’ve kept it off just through diet and exercise. I’ve also been asked to resume my weekly posts about health and fitness related topics because many people have been inspired by my personal journey and struggles. Because of this, I have decided not only to write about my workouts, but also post videos sharing recipes that are extremely easy and fast to make, plus healthy.

I do have to reiterate that I am not a doctor, professional nutritionist, or certified health or fitness anything. But, I have done so much research and through trial and error, figured out what diets work very well for myself and Padrone. In case you didn’t know, my partner has diabetes, high blood pressure, high #cholesterol, and a high acid count in his blood. With medication and a big change in his diet, we have gotten it all under control and his levels stay in a steady healthy range. Much of what I do is adaptable to your own life as well.

Along with the #recipes, I’ll be sharing tips I’ve learned for exercise, staying motivated, as well as food substitutes so you won’t feel like you are completely missing out on anything. I will also be writing about the lost art of putting a shopping list together for recipes that doesn’t break the budget and won’t make you buy entirely different things that you don’t already have.

I’m very excited and happy to share what I’ve learned and hopefully it will help you somehow in your own lives. September is going to be the start of many awesome things to come!
