It’s Week 49 of Operation Get Fit No Excuses! Welcome and thank you all for your encouragement and support throughout the long and arduous journey to me getting healthier.
The weather here has been so nasty and cold the past few weeks that I have not had the opportunity to get outside for a long walk. I know and have seen people that run outside no matter what the weather may be, but I’m not that dedicated and definitely don’t have the constitution for it. Fortunately, I can burn the calories I need and achieve the same results indoors.
I somehow hurt my knee last week and couldn’t exercise or bend it for a couple of days. I think I pushed too hard for a few days and strained it. Luckily it straightened itself out after a few days and I was able to do some chair cardio workouts so I could continue my fitness regimen without hurting my knee more.
Surprisingly, I actually burned pretty good calories even though I was sitting in a chair the entire time. My core ended up getting a great workout also because the chair cardio programs make you use lots of abs.
Today, I incorporated a 14 minutes indoor walking routine after I did a 10 min chair cardio workout and fortunately my knee was ok. I did feel some tightness in the muscles that wasn’t there before, so I’m definitely going slow in getting back up to my normal speed and routines.
I think I will start including a couple of chair workouts weekly to change things up and give my knees a break from the harder, higher impact videos I usually follow. I am also using more weight and toning videos to help my upper arms and thighs. I still have a ways to go, but I’m extremely happy with how I look now and how I feel.
The thing I want you all to understand about living a healthier lifestyle is that it’s not just about weight. It’s about your overall health and wellbeing, inside and out. Living a healthier lifestyle consists of so much more than what size you are or how good you look in a bathing suit. It’s about living the best and longest life you can.
Check back in with me next week for Week 50’s report. Hope to see you then!
I hope your chair cardio goes well! ice is a good friend to the knee <3
