Year 2 Week 17: Operation Get Fit No Excuses

Updated: May 5, 2019

Welcome to Year 2 Week 17 of Operation Get Fit No Excuses! Yes, it’s been a couple of weeks since my last fitness post.

I first have to admit that I have been very lax in my workouts over the past few weeks. While I have dealt with a couple of Epilepsy related issues, mostly, I’ve just been lazy. I have walked most mornings with Padrone and forgotten to record it using the exercise app. We did a modest 2.6 kms in about 30 minutes. I normally would have done a harder indoor workout later in the day as well just to make sure I got in my calorie count, but I didn’t have the motivation or the strength. I’m not making excuses, just letting you know the reality of what’s been going on.

We celebrated my Padrone’s birthday by having little cheat sweets every day for 5 days leading up to the big day, which was on April 30th. While it was awesome to overindulge, we tried not to go too far overboard. Now, we are back to our normal diets and are actually exercising more. Padrone has taken a deeper interest in trying to shed some more weight and I’m doing what I can to help and encourage him.

I have been fluctuating in my weight about 4 pounds up and down. I don’t know if the changing weather is affecting me, hormones, or just the fact I’ve eaten more than usual over the past week while not exercising like I should. Now I’m getting back to my regular program and will update you on my progress next week.

It’s interesting how quickly I became complacent and started slipping back towards some of my lazier old habits by not exercising as much as I should have. Now, I am back on track and determined to lose those couple of pounds.

That’s one lesson that we all need to be aware of. After losing weight, we have to stay vigilant because it’s very easy to allow weight to start to creep back up just by not paying attention. We can also easily fall back into old habits that made us gain weight in the first place.

Thank you all for your encouragement and support. See you next time!
